100% Employee Owned
Projects

Ancon Construction partnered with Habitat for Humanity of St. Joseph County to transform a two-story, 11,000-square-foot former medical building into its new Homeownership Training Center and Main Office in Mishawaka. Located along the McKinley Corridor and adjacent to the city’s new fire station, the renovated facility is expected to serve 750 to 1,000 community members annually through classes and resources focused on financial literacy, home maintenance, safety, and successful long-term homeownership.
The facility includes private offices, collaborative workspace for interns and volunteers, conference rooms, and a 75-person training center. Natural wood features, interior glass, and updated windows bring warmth and daylight into the space. Habitat’s colors, mission-focused messaging, and imagery celebrate homeowners and volunteers, while commemorative displays honor President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn Carter’s legacy of service.
The renovation preserved the 1960s building’s architectural character, including its ribbon window design and decorative breeze block. Ancon carefully reused salvaged breeze block to repair damaged sections, installed replacement windows and insulation to improve energy efficiency, and added an entrance ramp to improve accessibility. The completed project gives Habitat a welcoming, functional space to expand its educational programs and support families throughout St. Joseph County.
