Ancon Construction Wins ABC Award of Excellence for Goodwill Mission Services Project
Ancon Construction is proud to announce that Goodwill Mission Services in Elkhart, Indiana, has received the Award of Excellence from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Excellence in Construction Competition.
This 48,000-square-foot adaptive reuse project transformed a vacant Sears Department Store at the historic Pierre Moran Mall into a vibrant community and education center. The facility houses Goodwill’s programs including The Excel Center, The Academy, Nurse-Family Partnership, Second Chance and Career Connections, all under one roof.
“We are thrilled to celebrate one year in this beautiful space that has already made such a meaningful impact on our mission. Ancon Construction’s exceptional work and true partnership brought this vision to life, and we are grateful for their commitment to our community,” shared Debie Coble, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Michiana.
Designed to serve 350 students, the center offers classrooms, hands-on workshops, breakout lounges, and a Kid’s Excel learning suite. Its innovative design features 20 skylights, 18-foot-tall secure glass walls, and bright, uplifting interiors, creating a safe and inspiring learning environment.
“Goodwill Mission Services is more than a building, it’s a place where lives are changed, and communities are strengthened,” said Doug VonGunten, President of Ancon Construction. “We are honored to receive this recognition for a project that will have a lasting impact on Elkhart.”
Ancon Construction continues to demonstrate its dedication to quality construction, sustainable development, and economic growth through projects that enhance both the quality of life and quality of place in the communities it serves.
