Ancon Construction Receives 2026 Governor’s Half Century Business Award
Ancon Construction has been named a recipient of the 2026 Governor’s Half Century Business Award, recognizing the company for 50 years of continuous operation in Indiana and its longstanding commitment to the communities it serves.
Ancon Construction CFO Rhett Fisher represented the company at the Indiana Statehouse on Aug. 17 to receive the award during the Governor’s Century and Half Century Business Awards recognition ceremony.
Founded in 1975 by Andy Frech and headquartered in Goshen, Indiana, Ancon Construction has built a 50-year legacy as a trusted commercial contractor serving northern Indiana and southern Michigan.
As Frech prepared for retirement, he transitioned ownership of the company to its employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). By 1999, Ancon was 100% Employee Owned, creating long-term stability for the company while providing meaningful ownership and retirement benefits for its employees.
“Receiving the Governor’s Half Century Business Award is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the people who have shaped Ancon over the past 50 years,” said Fisher. ““This recognition reflects the trust of our clients, the hard work of our Employee Owners and the strong relationships we have built throughout the communities we serve”
Today, Ancon is led by President Doug VonGunten, who assumed the role in 2021 and continues to guide the company’s growth and innovation.
“Reaching 50 years is an important milestone, but it also reminds us of the responsibility we have to keep moving Ancon forward,” said VonGunten. “We are proud of the foundation built before us and excited to continue investing in our people, our clients and the communities we call home.”
In 2024, Ancon relocated its corporate headquarters to a renovated building just blocks from its original Goshen office. The project transformed a vacant furniture store into Ancon’s new corporate headquarters, bringing a long-time vision to life while reinforcing the company’s commitment to investing in the local community.
