Ancon Building Services (ABS) collaborated with NIBCO and WRX to transform a long-vacant building into the Rex Martin NIBCO Interactive Museum in Elkhart, Indiana. Originally constructed in 1958, the building had served several purposes over the years—including Blessings Music Store and later the Red Cross—before sitting vacant for several years prior to redevelopment.
To bring the vision to life, NIBCO partnered with Ancon Construction’s ABS department, building on a successful history of previous collaborations. In less than a month, Ancon’s in-house design team developed the initial concepts and 3-D models that helped guide the transformation process.
The museum now highlights the history of NIBCO INC., its innovations in plumbing, and its philanthropic contributions to the local community. The full-scale renovation touched every room within the facility. Interior walls were removed to create a more open and engaging layout, while the exterior was modernized with fresh paint, new doors, and a new metal roof replacing the original shingles. Accessibility improvements were also incorporated by relocating the main entrance closer to the parking lot.
The project also included updated training facilities to support NIBCO’s ongoing programming and community engagement needs.
