Zach MacCartney’s path to Ancon Construction started with a family connection, his uncle, Rick Kinzer, introduced him to the team. What began as an opportunity has grown into a career he’s now been building for over five years.
“I kind of just fell into concrete,” Zach shared. “But it’s been fantastic, absolutely the best.”
Since day one, Zach has been part of the concrete crew, where he’s found not just a job, but a team. He credits much of his experience to the people around him.
“The help’s the best. Great guys to work with. They take the time to teach you, what to do and what not to do.”
That mentorship and hands-on learning have played a key role in his growth, helping him build both skill and confidence. About two years ago, Zach stepped into a leadership role, running work with the crew, an accomplishment he’s especially proud of.
“Running a crew is something I’m really proud of.”
Like many in construction, Zach has faced challenging projects along the way. One that stands out is The Turn at Elcona Country Club, a job that came with its share of obstacles but ultimately made the experience more rewarding.
“It had a lot of challenges, but that’s what makes you better.”
Today, Zach continues to lead in the field while also helping train newer team members, passing along the same knowledge that was invested in him.
Outside of work, Zach is a proud and busy dad. He and Cheyenne have four kids: Myles, Logan, Mera, and Emmett, with another on the way later this summer.
When asked what it takes to succeed in concrete work, Zach keeps it simple: show up on time, be willing to learn, and have thick skin. It’s demanding work, but for him, the reward is clear.
“Being able to drive by a project and tell my kids, ‘Your dad did that’—that’s pretty cool!”
Please join us in celebrating Zach’s five-year milestone as an Ancon Construction Employee Owner.
