When Sherrie joined Ancon Construction in 2015, she brought with her 25 years of experience in the residential construction industry. While commercial construction was a new chapter, she quickly found opportunities to make a meaningful impact.
Sherrie began her career at Ancon as an Administrative Assistant and, over the years, became a valuable resource across multiple areas of the company. In 2022, following the unexpected passing of the Human Resources Director, she stepped into the HR role during this difficult time for the Ancon family, drawing on her past administrative and human resources experience to help guide the transition while continuing to build on her knowledge, support Ancon’s Employee Owners, and advocate for them.
Throughout her decade with the company, Sherrie has helped improve processes that benefit both Ancon and its partners. One of her most significant accomplishments was leading the transition to DocuSign. What was once a paper-based process that could take weeks was transformed into a streamlined electronic system that allows contracts to be completed in minutes.
“The success of DocuSign continues to benefit multiple departments today,” Sherrie said, noting it remains one of the accomplishments she is most proud of during her time at Ancon.
Another memorable project was helping implement Ancon’s field timecard app. By working with software developers and creating procedures tailored to Ancon’s needs, she helped simplify the process for Employee Owners in the field while improving efficiency throughout the company.
For Sherrie, the most rewarding part of her role is helping others.
“There’s something new to face every day,” she said. “I enjoy helping resolve problems for our Employee Owners.”
She also believes Ancon’s commitment to its people is one of the company’s greatest strengths.
“The company is good to employees when the employees are good to the company. Ancon really does care about their employees,” Sherrie said.
As someone who has experienced multiple roles during her career at Ancon, she encourages new Employee Owners to take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
“Stick with the big ‘A’ (Ancon),” she said. “Being an Employee Owner and having the opportunity to receive stock is a huge retirement benefit.”
When asked what qualities are most important for success in her role, Sherrie points to flexibility and a desire to help others, qualities she has demonstrated throughout her 10 years at Ancon.
Congratulations, Sherrie, on 10 years of service. Thank you for your dedication, innovation, and commitment to Ancon Construction and its Employee Owners.
