Ancon Construction Honored with Multiple Awards by Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky

[GOSHEN, IN – October 7, 2025] –  Ancon Construction, an Integrated Design-Build™ firm celebrating its 50th year in business, proudly announces it has received four awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky (ABC) as part of the 2025 Excellence in Construction Competition.

The ABC Excellence in Construction Competition recognizes outstanding projects built by ABC members, promoting greater awareness in local communities of the quality work produced by Merit Shop contractors and their teams. The Award of Excellence in Construction specifically honors the skill and creativity of the entire project team: the contractor, owner, architect, and engineer, whose work demonstrates innovation, quality, communication, and safety.

Ancon Construction’s award-winning projects include:

• The Ice Box – Award of Excellence

Located in South Bend, Indiana, The Ice Box is a 37,000-square-foot pre-engineered metal building combined with a 6,800-square-foot renovation. The facility features a new ice rink, locker rooms, and seating, and incorporates a restored 1920s building from the Oliver Plow factory. As a premier sports tourism destination, it is projected to contribute $27 million annually to the local economy.

• Goodwill Mission Services – Award of Excellence

This 48,000-square-foot adaptive reuse project in Elkhart, Indiana, transformed a long-abandoned Sears Department Store into a vibrant community and education center. The facility now includes 12 modern classroom suites, a Kids Excel area, and a hands-on workshop in the former automotive center. The renovation introduced 20 skylights and extensive interior glazing to maximize natural light throughout the space.

• Ancon Construction Corporate Headquarters – Award of Merit

Ancon’s new 22,000-square-foot headquarters in Goshen, Indiana, repurposed a vacant building into a modern, collaborative office space. Strategically located next to the company’s existing warehouse, the facility unites office and field teams. The design emphasizes leadership, innovation, and growth, featuring light-filled workspaces and dedicated training areas.

• R. Douglas Trolson Model Member Image Award

This award recognizes Ancon Construction’s representation of the Merit Shop philosophy, commitment to quality, and leadership within the construction industry.

“Ancon Construction in Goshen, Indiana, is named the winner of the Trolson Model Member Award for 2025. This award coincides with Ancon Construction’s 50th year in business, shared Angela Kenmire, ABC IN/KY North Central Council Manager/Executive Assistant. ABC Indiana was founded in the South Bend area of the state. With Ancon joining ABC in February of 1976, they became one of the early members in the infancy of our ABC Chapter.”
