Ancon Construction continues to work on the Endangered Species Carousel which is expected to be ready on opening day when the Potawatomi Zoo re-opens this Spring. Work commenced on October 1 and crews have been busy with site demolition, site work, and the erection of the steel pavilion which will house the carousel. The carousel is part of Phase 1 of the entrance plaza project. Phase 2 work includes a restroom building, seating areas, stairway and ramp promenade, and an open gathering area. “Ancon and Potawatomi Zoo worked hand in hand on the design of the new entrance plaza to allow a striking, whimsical first impression to zoo visitors. It will truly be an open, inviting space as one enters the zoo,” commented Ancon Designer Matthew VanSoest.
